Gillian Gets Naked for McChickens
Well, half-naked anyway. She was blonde last time, but has been brunette for just under a year now. Worst year of her life too!
We picked up some McDonald’s on the way to the beach — I had a McLobster and McDonald’s felt the need to give me a fork and knife to eat it. WTF?
Anyhoo, the beach was cold as hell but the sunset was super fantastic as you can see.
All of these were lit with a single AlienBees 1600 monolight with the Vagabond Mini Lithium battery pack. Such a great combo and they worked like a charm for my whole trip. The Vagabond Mini in particular is stunningly small for the amount of juice it holds. I was so wowed by it that I didn’t even bother to charge it until about my third last day — I think I could have actually eeked out the entire trip on one charge. Amazing.

Kathryn M
I’ll wait a moment while you pick your jaw up off the floor.
Ready? Good. Meet Kathryn M.
She’s 16.
I’ll wait again while you regain your composure.
Are you back? Good. As you can probably tell, she’s had a bit of modeling experience before I came along, despite her tender age. This was a pretty simple shoot, all in all — we hit Crystal Crescent Beach in the late evening when the light would be best (although it’s always a crapshoot in Halifax) and Kathryn threw on a white shirt that I bought at Sears about 30 minutes before hand. She’ll be a big time agency model one day — mark my words.
Above, the golden rim on Kathryn’s face is from the late day sun, and the rest of her was illuminated with an AlienBees 1600 in a small umbrella, powered by the Vagabond Mini Lithium. Below, only glorious sunshine was used and nothing more.
Kathryn now has that shirt hanging in her closet… maybe we’ll put it to good use again one day…
Happy Birthday, Sam!

Alexandra
Alex and I hit the beach last week and waited out a thunderstorm to get these shots. It was also the first time I had a chance to try out some of the stuff I bought from Intimates21.com. A few months back I ordered a bunch of bikinis and other stuff from Intimates21, knowing full well that they were a Chinese sweatshop making cheap knock-offs of other branded products. They don’t even produce their own product images, instead preferring to steal them from other sites and then sewing their own versions of what’s pictured. When the stuff arrived, much of it looked close enough to the pictures that it didn’t matter that much, but some stuff was way off. This red bikini that Alex is wearing, for example, is described as a “metallic red vinyl bikini” by Intimates21. Click the link to check out the description and their photo. Then look again at what Alex has on. Not even close. Alex’s bikini is not metallic, nor vinyl. The Intimates21 photo shows ties at the sides of the bikini bottom, which Alex’s does not have. You can also see that the cut is much different, with Alex’s red bottoms being larger and higher in the front.
Now, on the upside — it was only $6. No big deal.
