Charlotte’s one of the more unique people I’ve met, and I wish I could give you all something tangible to back that up, but it’s tough to put into words. I’ve said it before on this blog and I’ll say it again — one of the primary benefits of this little hobby is being able to get to know so many varied, interesting people.

The day after our hotel/bedroom shoot, Sarah and I woke up crazy early to head to Queensland Beach for sunrise. I’m super indecisive with how I want my photos to look, so there’s a mix of lighting and post-processing styles here. Some are straight-up sunlight, and others throw in the Alien Bees 1600 monolight that I managed to cram in my suitcase.

And now prepare your eyes for the smallest bikini everrrr. You’ve seen variations of this bikini here before, as I had a bunch in different colours (from Wicked Temptations). Sarah wears it like a pro!

This was a cold, cold day at Conrad’s Beach in Halifax, but Kristina toughed it out and rolled around in the ocean and the muddy sand for some stellar shots.

Makeup by the lovely Kaily Grist, who is abandoning Halifax for Vancouver very soon.

We picked up some McDonald’s on the way to the beach — I had a McLobster and McDonald’s felt the need to give me a fork and knife to eat it. WTF?

Anyhoo, the beach was cold as hell but the sunset was super fantastic as you can see.

All of these were lit with a single AlienBees 1600 monolight with the Vagabond Mini Lithium battery pack. Such a great combo and they worked like a charm for my whole trip. The Vagabond Mini in particular is stunningly small for the amount of juice it holds. I was so wowed by it that I didn’t even bother to charge it until about my third last day —  I think I could have actually eeked out the entire trip on one charge. Amazing.

Sunrise, 6am. Lawrencetown Beach. Freezing effing cold.

I guess Alison didn’t find it that cold after all, as she proceeded to take off her bikini top. Not that it was keeping her super warm anyway.

Are you back? Good. As you can probably tell, she’s had a bit of modeling experience before I came along, despite her tender age. This was a pretty simple shoot, all in all — we hit Crystal Crescent Beach in the late evening when the light would be best (although it’s always a crapshoot in Halifax) and Kathryn threw on a white shirt that I bought at Sears about 30 minutes before hand. She’ll be a big time agency model one day — mark my words.

Above, the golden rim on Kathryn’s face is from the late day sun, and the rest of her was illuminated with an AlienBees 1600 in a small umbrella, powered by the Vagabond Mini Lithium. Below, only glorious sunshine was used and nothing more.

Kathryn now has that shirt hanging in her closet… maybe we’ll put it to good use again one day…

Today is Sam’s birthday! To celebrate, she almost got down to her birthday suit.
