Sarah in Lingerie
I told you there would be a lot more! But the reallllly good shots are still to come…
Timmins, where Sarah is from, isn’t exactly what you’d call a hotbed of modeling activity. She got in a few shoots there but somehow honed her skills far beyond what would be expected. Girl knows how to model and how to move in front of a camera.
Sarah
Meet Sarah who just recently turned 18 years old. We shot these in Ottawa where Sarah has just moved for school. Being bilingual, she naturally gravitates to being a Habs fan, whereas I’m a Leafs fan. And although the NHL season just started (Leafs with a 2-0 win over Montreal!), I was already mocking her team’s failings tonight via Facebook chat as they were losing.
These were all shot with the natural window light in my hotel suite. There will be a lot more of Sarah in the coming days, so keep your eyes peeled. And check out her Model Mayhem profile!

The Blonde Bombshell Returns
True story: the green lingerie above was far too small for Gillian and serves no practical purpose, which therefore makes it great for photos. The top just barely held her in boobs, and the bottoms, um, didn’t. That required a little extra Photoshop work. In fact, it was a bit of an ongoing theme throughout the shoot and there were a fair amount of photos that wouldn’t qualify for Gillian’s seal of approval.

The Other Brandi
Meet the other Brandi. I only call her that because for the last five years I’ve been shooting a different gal named Brandi… apparently parents in the 80s and 90s weren’t that diverse with their naming.
This Brandi happens to be from Porters Lake, Nova Scotia, which I feel comfortable to tell you is a solid one hour drive from Halifax in rush hour traffic. It’s a breezy 35 minutes back to Halifax without traffic.
Anyhoo.
More pictures:
I struggled a lot to set up the light for this shoot. As I mentioned previously, I can only bring a bare minimum of equipment with me while travelling. On this trip, that consisted of two Nikon Speedlights, two small umbrellas, and two small light stands. That’s not a lot of flexibility, and because we shot this at night, I was without my favourite daylight streaming through the window. Poor Brandi sat and watched as I fiddled and struggled with positioning and intensity of the lights for what must have seemed like hours. By the time I got the light working the way I wanted it to at the end of the shoot, we had a whole ton of pretty images that will unfortunately never see the light of day due to some other problems — perhaps I’ll write about that in detail one day. Such is the life of a photographer.
